Building Consent Culture and Healthy Masculinity For All Genders With Richard M. Wright

My dreams for Black healing, Black liberation, and our future are a future where cisheteropatriarchy is an ancient relic. Where there are no more margins within margins within margins. All Black Lives Matter. We are a community that has each others backs, and we are a collective force of creativity, freedom, joy, abundance, actualization and wellness. Ase’.

Event Description
This is an interactive workshop to empower attendees with the tools to foster consent culture and healthy masculinities in themselves, their families and communities. We will work on honoring our own boundaries, as well as the boundaries of others.
It is worthy to note that “masculinity” is not being taught as an identity exclusive to cis-men. We will explore healthy masculinities of all genders.
Attendees will leave with these tools, and a fundamental understanding of the systems of oppression that suppress consent culture and healthy masculinity, and how we can rise above that together.
Who Is This Event For?
This is for people of all (or no) genders, all of my workshops have been mixed in this regard. Cis-men are however especially encouraged to attend.
Event Goals, Hopes, & Outcomes
Joy from just being in our bodies. A sense of agency over our bodies and boundaries. Being empowered with tools for embodying the safer communities we want. An excavation of healthy masculinities.

“I have reached a place where Healing and Justice are almost synonymous for us as Black people. Being in a community of Black people who are deeply healing, is a victory. This is deeply necessary for us. And also in alignment with my purpose. I have accrued these skills, some from academic Ivory Towers, I need to bring it back to benefit Black Community. I have participated in similar endeavors (Black Love Convergence, 2018) and know how healing it is to simply be in a space put together with this intention. I want to be there for community, and I want to be there to experience these rare and precious Black Healing spaces.”
